![]() The WI67 does so by updating a classic semiacoustic design with modern features, like the Feiten system and Washburn’s exclusive Voice Contour Control (VCC) tone system (more on this below). ![]() The X50 achieves this balance of old and new by incorporating the company’s patented intonation-correcting Buzz Feiten Tuning System in a guitar that has sexy looks and built-for-speed design, yet feels as well crafted as a handmade custom ax. My two test guitars, Washburn’s solidbody X50 PRO and semihollow WI67 PRO, serve different masters, yet both embody the company’s traditional leanings and forward thinking. In recent years, however, the guitar maker has received as much praise for its multifaceted electric creations, which have become the instruments of choice for cutting-edge players as diverse as Dimebag Darrell and Jennifer Batten. See below for specs and a demo video (not filmed by me).Washburn became famous a century ago as a crafter of fine acoustic guitars. ![]() In all honesty, this is a great guitar (on par with ESP, in my opinion), and I hate to see it go, but ultimately it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Also, despite liking the effect of the 18V mod, have decided that I'm not really an EMG guy as far as personal taste goes. This guitar has been one of my main axes for the past few years, but even at the time of purchase, I had really wanted a full baritone scale guitar, which I intend to replace it with. With any luck, that won't be problematic, but it may require a new nut if you're putting on dramatically lighter strings. If setting up this guitar for standard tuning or a different string gauge, be aware that the low string has had the nut filed ever so slightly to accommodate the heavier string. ![]() The EMG 18V Mod simply places another 9V battery in series to coax more midrange and less compression out of the sound, and is easily reversible by de-soldering the second 9V battery clip (mounted in the control cavity) and resoldering the remaining circuit back together. This guitar has been modded with the EMG 18V Mod and set up as a B-standard (B-E-A-D-F#-B) baritone with Ernie Ball Baritone Slinky strings (gauge 13-72). ![]() It is a solid, super resonant, chunky-bodied set neck guitar with a beautiful natural finish. For sale is a Washburn X50 Pro FE with EMG 81 and 85 pickups. ![]()
